Lorena joined the European Social Observatory (OSE) in January 2011 as Researcher after working for over 14 years in the healthcare sector. Research interests include pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement policies and systems and the economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. At the OSE she is involved in the ECAB project (2010-2013), which addresses cross border care issues and is financed by the European Commission under its Framework Programme for Research. Within this project she is the main researcher on a study on cross-border prescriptions of pharmaceutical products, which will be carried out in 5 Member States.
During her professional career Lorena led research addressing pricing, reimbursement and regulatory issues linked to medical technologies and pharmaceuticals in major European countries and developed cost-effectiveness models to assess the potential economic impact that new healthcare products could have on the healthcare system. She also completed detailed quantitative research looking at the development of a formula to facilitate the distribution of healthcare budgets to local health areas in Catalonia (Spain).
She has presented in various international conferences on pricing and reimbursement of pharmaceuticals as well as on the impact of regionalisation on different European systems.
Lorena, a graduate in Economics, completed the international doctoral courses programme offered by the Swiss School of Public Health and have, since 2009, a DEA (Diplome of Advanced Studies) in Health Economics from the UNED (Spain). |
