The OSE was contracted by the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) to conduct research, which resulted in a book on “Social Policy in the European Union: State of Play 2015”. The 16th edition of this edited volume (published in September) features external scholars (Richard Hyman, Vivien Schmidt and Jonathan Zeitlin) as well as OSE and ETUI contributers.

The OSE was contracted by the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) to conduct research, which resulted in a book on “Social developments in the European Union 2013”. The 15th edition of this publication (published in July 2014) featured authors such as Anton Hemerijck (Fault lines and silver linings in Europe’s social market economy), Frank Vandenbroucke, Bart Vanhercke and John Morley (A European Social Union), and Ferdinand Fichtner (Euro area-wide unemployment insurance).

The 14th edition of this publication features authors such as Paul De Grauwe (From financial to social and political risks in the Eurozone), Alexander Trechsel and Claudius Wagemann (The EU in 2012: political and institutional tensions) and Georg Feigl, Sven Hergovich and Miriam Rehm (Beyond GDP: can we re-focus the debate?).
L’Institut syndical européen (ETUI) a confié à l’OSE une recherche ayant pour objectif la publication d’un ouvrage établissant le « Bilan social de l’Union européenne 2011 ». Outre l’équipe de l’OSE, cette 12ème édition compte notamment parmi ses auteurs Giuliano Amato et Yves Mény (sur les paradoxes des dynamiques institutionnelles en 2011), Patrick Diamond et Roger Liddle (sur la recherche d’une meilleure gouvernance économique pour l’Union européenne), Christophe Degryse et Philippe Pochet (sur les inquiétants chemins de la nouvelle gouvernance européenne).
L'OSE a remporté un contrat avec la maison d'édition EDIESSE, qui publie la "Rivista delle Politiche Sociali" (Revue de politique sociale), une revue italienne vouée à être un point de référence pour les débats, perspectives et analyses sur les questions du bien-être, pour conduire une recherche sur les développements sociaux dans l'Union européenne. L'OSE résumera, 4 fois par an, le résultat de cette recherche dans un Digest ("Osservatorio Europa") pour le journal.
Dans le cadre de conventions conclues en 2008 et 2009 avec la FEC (Formation Education Culture Asbl), l'Observatoire social européen a réalisé des fiches sur l'Union européenne et ses principaux enjeux sociaux. En 2010, l'Observatoire a également participé à différentes formations syndicales sur l'Europe et rédigé un rapport sur la fiscalité européenne (Série Cahiers FEC).
